The Greenford Trefoil Guild of Guides met at The Brambles to hold their annual mid-summer camp-fire gathering. The first event of the evening was to dedicate the BBQ at Brambles in memory of Joan Herring a former member of the group who excelled in cooking at guide camps for many years. At the dedication Marcella said this of Joan:-

Joan was a founder member of the Greenford Trefoil Guild joining in 1968 until her death in November 2000. During her time she became Treasurer and whenever help was needed Joan was involved. When we were asked to provide refreshments at Greenford Carnival Joan stepped up and did the shopping and organised the other things needed. She was seen at Division and District events, Swimming Galas, Knocks Outs and so on, nothing fazed Joan. On a regular basis she helped 3rd Perivale Brownies, Holy Cross and Methodist Guide Units – Joan was available! This plaque will be a permanent reminder of our respect for Joan and all she did for the girls. Situated here at the Brambles Camp Site it is a fitting tribute to Joan who so enjoyed camping and being out in the open.
