Bristol-Myers Squibb generously supported our Brambles Centre with an 'Extreme Gardening Day' - carrying out a huge number of improvement tasks. Nineteen people arrived by mini-coach to start what turned out to be a very productive day. As this summer's rain would appear to have been non-stop the weeds all over the site had become massive!   Last year's summer sun (yes it was a while ago!) had taken its toll on our wooden buildings which needed a good protective coat of preservative.Trails needed to be tidied up and the tent store and Lodge kitchen/meeting room required sprucing up.   The team worked very, very hard for the duration of our event.  Everything we set out to achieve was completed including a picnic lunch in the middle of suburbia.  The fire pile of cutback brambles, weeds and wood continued to grow during the day.Several people tried their hand at driving our tractor to move rubble, logs brambles and weeds around the site. At the picnic several company achievement awards were presented to members of BMS staff. By the event's end all of our buildings looked spick and span both inside and out and the weeds had disappeared along with any overhanging brambles.  A large new camping area has been reclaimed from the undergrowth and lined with log seating. We hope to have this area grassed over in time for the next camping season.
At the end of everyone's efforts an oak tree was planted by Sylvia to mark the day.

The Brambles committee, on behalf of all the people (of all ages!) that use our Centre would like to thank all those who took part in our 'Extreme Gardening Day'.
