University of Westminster - Media, Arts & Design BA Students film making in Brambles

BA Students from the University of Westminster - Harrow Campus visited The Brambles to make the final scene of their film that will ultimately be shown at both BAFTA and Cannes Film Festival in a few months time. Ten students and their fully loaded van arrived at our Centre on Monday 23rd May at 6.30pm ready to film a night scene against a blazing fire.  The fire was laid on several large logs and pallets with a generous layer of wood from an ex-garden shed previously donated for firewood!  Having built the fire it was covered with a plastic sheet as it was beginning to pour with rain. Latham would later light the fire, in style with one match!  Spirits undampened, the BBQ (cooked under an umbrella!) was served and a healthy spread was put out in the Lodge for us all to enjoy.

Filming progressed during the evening throughout the showers of rain. Sarah acted her role superbly and

bravely in a sleeveless red dress in spite of the cold night air. The fire burned brightly sending showers of sparks into the night. Elizabeth's short scene was both spectacular and dramatic!

After several takes all was wrapped up by 1.30am the next morning!!!!! Their superb kit was stowed in the van.  Final photos were taken and the fire extinguished. The students drove off into the night under a bright moonlit sky in the knowledge of an evening and night well spent....... The photographic evidence is below!
