ROOF REPAIRS - Update 25th October - phase three

We are now well on our way to completing the re-roofing of our Brambles buildings having almost completed Phase 3 - The Tent Store - well ahead of schedule.  Andi, Andrew and Bryan have finished fitting the plastic coated steel the roofing sheets to all three buildings.  This was all done during a beautiful October day with blue skies and warm sunshine - we even had a picnic in the sun (thanks to Janet, who brought round some much needed sandwiches and treats!). This work will ensure that the buildings are watertight for the winter. All that remains to be done now is to put on the facing (barge) boards to one end of the Lodge and on both ends of the Tent Store and that should be that for 25 years!! All of this would not be possible if Grassroots had not generously awarded us a grant to cover our materials.

ROOF REPAIRS - Update 16th October  phase two

The Lodge has now received its new covering of plastic coated steel sheets - all 16 of them! In spite of the heavy showers the work was carried out on Saturday 16th October.  We (Andrew & colleague, Andi and myself - Bryan) started at 9.30am and finished as the sun set at 6.45pm. The work was made more difficult because the roof was not square in any direction and so quite a lot of manoeuvring was needed to get it all to fit. As you can see from Andi's face we were all exhausted by the end of the day but the roof is now water tight for the next 25 years!  All that remains to be completed on the lodge is the fitting of the new barge flashings at each end and the guttering realigned and we then move on to the Tent store.

Update 7th October
Phase two of the urgent repairs to the Lodge roof are under way.  It is hoped to complete the re-roofing on 16th October starting at 10am to ensure that the building is water tight for the winter.  Andrew and Bryan with the aid of a nail gun(!) fixed the wooden battens to the roof in preparation of the work ahead on both the Lodge and Store.
This work is being supported by: EBCC (Ealing & Brentford Consolidated Charity) & the Grassroots Fund and Skyline Roofing.
