Mid-Summer Gala 2010

Opening of the 2010 Mid-Summer Gala    Brambles Outdoor Centre - Plant stall

The new Mayor of Ealing Cllr. Rajinder Mann and Mayoress Cllr. Gurmit Mann attended our 2010 Gala which was opened by Steve Pound, MP Ealing North, in his usual rousing and flamboyant style. The Rector Neil Richardson, gave his wholehearted support to our forth Gala held in his garden.

The new Mayor gave an opening and very supportive speech to the larger number of supporters and fund raisers that came along this year; wishing everyone the very best for the day.

At the opening ceremony Steve Pound presented Bryan Payne with the John Winter trophy for his work for Brambles and a bottle of House of Commons Claret. Bryan gave a short speech by way of reply!!

The weather was very kind to us again this year being warm if a little cloudy - perfect for the visitors and stall holders alike. The Mayor, Mayoress and Steve Pound mingled with the crowd and visited many of the sideshows and stalls.

The decorated and colourful stalls added a ’village’ atmosphere to the day’s proceedings as you will see from the photos below.  As in previous years the Trooping of the Colour Flight treated us to our own spectacular fly-past - which thrilled all who saw it. One of our committee members provided a very interesting commentary on the types of aircraft flying overhead. The day went very well and the stallholders raised much needed funds for their groups. There were cakes, Rola rides, games, BBQ and refreshments, plants for sale, toys, cards, crockery smash, throw a wet sponge stocks, bric-a-brac and many more stalls and events.

The gala, as in previous years, has been a great success. Our thanks go to everyone for all of their considerable efforts to stage this superb event raising funds but also to create a very social occasion for the people taking part.  Very well done….. Here’s to next year’s event and we look forward to seeing everyone again in The Rectory Garden at Greenford’s premier event!!!!
